One year update

Hi all. As some of you know my Dec 19 checkup at the Bone Marrow Clinic didn't go quite as planned. I managed to catch a viral infection in my brain and ended up in emergency on that morning. I was pretty much unconscious for 4 days which was probably for the best as I was poked and prodded, including the dreaded MRI. As a result I missed another Christmas although I was more alert than last year and I even got a pass for 4 hours between meds so I could go to my brother's for Christmas dinner. As a result I didn't see my transplant doc until Jan. 9th for my one year checkup. All my blood results are good and she called with the results of my bone marrow biopsy today, which shows no cancer cells left in my bone marrow. Pretty much the best news you can get at the one year mark. My iron levels are elevated but no biggie, and to be expected after all the transfusions I've had over the past two years. My bone density is down 10 to 20% compared to before the transplant from all the chemo, so I'm taking an anti-osteoporosis drug now along with calcium and Vit D but pretty easy to take, all things considered.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and help over the past couple of years. I couldn't have done it without you!
I'm off work again recuperating from my hospital stay. I'm really tired and a little unsteady on my legs and have trouble remembering words but hopefully my neurons all snap back into place soon. So it's back to resting and exercising as much as I can.
My next checkup isn't for 3 months now that I'm in Year 2 post transplant. Talk to you then. Thanks for all the support and I send all your good thoughts and prayers right back to you.
Love, Lynn
