2nd birthday checkup

Hi all. I had my 2 year checkup at the Bone Marrow Clinic yesterday. My first sample was sparse so I got to have another biopsy, lucky me. She said my bones were very dense so that's good news for my bone density. I won't get the biopsy or bone density results for a week but my blood work was 'pristine' according to the doc. I'll update once I have the results.
Happy Holidays!

Oct. 15 check up

Had my 3 month checkup with the transplant doctor today. All continues well. I have a cold which means gowns & masks in the clinic as a pre-caution, and a nasal swab for me to make sure it's just a cold. Yuck! Working full time is getting less tiring so I can enjoy doing a few things on the weekend instead of sleeping. Like house work! My next appointment will be my 2 yr anniversary in December, Hard to believe it`s been that long already.

Updated picture

Hi again. I updated the picture with one from our recent trip to Maui. We're laughing so hard because this fellow offered to take our picture as we strolled around our condo complex. Just before he snapped it, his 2 year old son ran out of his condo stark naked, with a plastic shark he pretended to bite us with. Made for a great picture though!

April 2nd checkup

My 3 month checkup yesterday went great yesterday. My transplant doctor calls me her "poster patient" because I am doing so well. All my blood counts are still really good. So I don't need to see her again until July. I'm only taking 2 prescription meds plus lots of calcium and Vitamin D.
I had a followup in Feb. with the neurologist from my hospital stay in Dec. He recommended I stay off work until April. So here it is April already and I'm back to work on April 9th. It's a graduated return starting with 3 half days per week. I'll be back to full time by the end of May.
Thanks again for all the good wishes throughout this journey and during my (hopefully) last stay in the hospital in December. Happy Easter to all!

One year update

Hi all. As some of you know my Dec 19 checkup at the Bone Marrow Clinic didn't go quite as planned. I managed to catch a viral infection in my brain and ended up in emergency on that morning. I was pretty much unconscious for 4 days which was probably for the best as I was poked and prodded, including the dreaded MRI. As a result I missed another Christmas although I was more alert than last year and I even got a pass for 4 hours between meds so I could go to my brother's for Christmas dinner. As a result I didn't see my transplant doc until Jan. 9th for my one year checkup. All my blood results are good and she called with the results of my bone marrow biopsy today, which shows no cancer cells left in my bone marrow. Pretty much the best news you can get at the one year mark. My iron levels are elevated but no biggie, and to be expected after all the transfusions I've had over the past two years. My bone density is down 10 to 20% compared to before the transplant from all the chemo, so I'm taking an anti-osteoporosis drug now along with calcium and Vit D but pretty easy to take, all things considered.
Thanks for all the good thoughts and help over the past couple of years. I couldn't have done it without you!
I'm off work again recuperating from my hospital stay. I'm really tired and a little unsteady on my legs and have trouble remembering words but hopefully my neurons all snap back into place soon. So it's back to resting and exercising as much as I can.
My next checkup isn't for 3 months now that I'm in Year 2 post transplant. Talk to you then. Thanks for all the support and I send all your good thoughts and prayers right back to you.
Love, Lynn
